SBM5 Sound Barrier Mat

SBM5 sound barrier mat is a mineral loaded, high density mat nominally 2mm thick and produced from recycled and recyclable materials with natural fillers.  SBM5 sound barrier mat is one of our most versatile products for upgrading the sound insulation of any structure due to its mass and minimal thickness.  It can be applied in layers to any timber suspended floor to increase the mass which is beneficial at reducing airborne noise through the floor.  The more layers that are added the more efficient the noise control becomes.  SBM5 can also help upgrade the sound insulation properties of lightweight stud walls by using this heavier mat as a decoupler between layers of plasterboard.  So when upgrading the sound insulation of a stud wall it is normal to infill the voids within the studs with AMW type acoustic mineral wool of the appropriate thickness then clad with a double thickness of high density acoustic plasterboard.  If these layers of plasterboard have SBM5 sandwiched within them then the sound blocking properties of the construction are substantially improved so have a look at our SBM5 sound barrier mat on our web site via the following link which you may have to copy and paste into the address bar of your browser.
